Larry R. Williams

Larry R. Williams was born in Dodge City and raised in Winfield. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Southwestern College. He taught instrumental music for 35 years in Ottawa, Topeka, Lawrence, Winfield, and Kansas City public schools as well as University of Kansas, Southwestern College, and Baker University. He was a member of the Kansas Air National Guard. He served as KMEA President and is a member of KMEA, MENC, American Federation of Musicians, ASTA with NSOA, and NEA. Honors include the Ottawa Outstanding Young Teacher award, the secondary Educator of America, International Who's Who in Music, Winfield NEA Master Teacher. He performed for the Bicentennial Celebration in Washington, DC with the Lawrence High Orchestra and Symphonic Band. The Lawrence High Orchestra and Youth Symphony performed at KMEA four times and the Kansas City Sumner Academy Orchestra performed at KMEA twice under his direction.
