Genevieve F. Hargiss

Genevieve F. Hargiss began her musical career as a
cellist and vocalist in the Emporia schools. She earned
a bachelor's degree in 1933, a master's in 1937 and a
Ph.D in 1960, all from The University of Kansas. She
taught in various elementary schools in Kansas and
Arizona form 1935 to 1946 and was professor in music
education at the Arizona State University from 1946 to
1953. She taught briefly at the University of Montana
and from 1956 to 1982 was professor in music education
at The University of Kansas. She wrote Music for
Elementary Teachers and numerous articles in
professional journals. She is listed in Who's Who of
American Women, Who's Who in the Midwest, and
Leaders in Education.
