Grace V. Wilson

Grace V. Wilson was born in La Platta, Missouri in
1881. She earned her bachelor's degree from William
Woods College and remained there as a piano instructor
following graduation. She later took a master's degree
at Northwestern University, where she also taught on the
summer faculty. She was supervisor of music in Topeka
and later served in that position in Wichita. She was a
co-author of the American Singer series and composed
many songs included in that series. She served the
MENC as a secretary and was on the Editorial Board,
the Research Council, and the Executive Board. She
was an organizer and charter member and later
president of KMEA and served as president of the
Southwestern Division of the MENC.
