James L. Kerr

James L. Kerr was professor of music, director of bands, and chair of the Wind and Percussion Department at Wichita State University from 1946 to 1970. He was director of instrumental music at Norton High School from 1936 to 1942. He served as a staff member at several summer music camps. He was district governor of Kappa Kappa Psi, President of Phi Beta Mu, and a member of CBDNA. He was elected a member of the American Bandmaster's Association. He studied at the Royal Military School of music in Twinckenham, England, where he investigated instruction, literature and performance practices of British military and brass bands. He served as an adjudicator and guest conductor in numerous states, Canada, and England.
